Nornickel has initiated a social technology forum, “City, It’s Us!” The forum will take place in Zapolyarny and Norilsk on March 4 and 18 respectively. The forum participants will be representatives of the communities who care about the future of their hometowns and who are willing to take part in their development. The principal objective of the forum and all related activities is to strengthen and unite the communities to make their places better.
The urban communities are groups of people having common interests. There are more than 20 communities, large and small, in Zapolyarny and Nikel and more than 30 in Norilsk and Dudinka. The forum provides a platform for exchanging experience and ideas, learning about successful practices in urban development, and communicating with experts.
“Neighbors 2.0” is a platform that will help the enthusiasts learn about socially valuable achievements of communities from other regions and devise their own activities. “Together” is a creative space that will enable the communities to share ideas and resources and find partners.
The community members have different roles. They are leaders, organizers, generators of ideas, designers of new activities, communicators (establishing internal communication), and promoters (engaged in the promotion and development of the community). Practical experts will provide training for each of these roles at the forum in the development of necessary skills and competencies.
The forum will include an event organized as a talk show to help the participants find an answer to the question: “Which is more important for urban development: infrastructure and the environment or people and the community?” The forum will end with granting awards to outstanding representatives of the urban communities and with holding an informal dance event.
The forum will be preceded by meetings with interesting people in each city. It will be useful for local residents to talk to them about parenting skills, about how to find the path of life, about personal development, and about other issues.
A popular blogger, Darya Dombrovskaya, will speak in Zapolyarny on March 3 about how to bring up a happy and successful child. Maria Zemlyanukhina and Vladislav Korobeynikov in tandem will share psychological knowledge of how to restore life energy and force.
In Norilsk on March 17, the famous theater teacher Valeria Ustinova will speak about the voice as an instrument of influence on children. An expert in business etiquette, Ivan Artsishevsky, will teach the audience to use effective techniques of business communication. The author of the Dancing Klondike nationwide project, Sergey Pichurichkin, will give a master class to anyone who wants to develop their dance moves. The head of the Department of the History of Arts and Humanities of the Stroganov Academy of Arts and Industry, Kirill Gavrilin, will discuss the cultural code of Norilsk with interested local residents.
The so-called “pre-forums” will end with intellectual games between urban community leaders. The pre-forums will be open to the public. The most active participants will receive invitations to the “City, It’s Us!” forum.
The social technology forum is a component of Nornickel’s World of New Opportunities charity program and has been held for three years with the support of the administrations of Norilsk and the Taimyr Dolgano-Nenets District, Monchegorsk, and the Pechengsky District.
