One of the main priorities of MMC Norilsk Nickel’s social policy is the creation of an up-to-date education system in the Norilsk Industrial Region and in the Taimyr (Dolgano-Nenetskii) Autonomous Region that will provide the foundation for the further training of qualified personnel for the company. Norilsk Nickel has a long tradition of patronage and sponsorship, and is always seeking to strengthen its links with educational institutes in the towns of Norilsk, Talnakh and Kaierkan.
MMC Norilsk Nickel gives financial support to the Norilsk Cadet Corps, to veterans of the Second World War and Afghanistan, as well as to departments of the All-Russia Society of Invalids located on the territory of the Norilsk Industrial Region. Norilsk Nickel has a long tradition of working with and providing assistance to the native peoples of the Taimyr (Dolgano-Nenetskii) Autonomous Region. At the present time, in addition to the payment of taxes and the provision of considerable indirect subsidies (part financing of housing and services, transport etc.), the company is putting into action an aid programme for rural areas inhabited by the local native peoples. |
The company places a lot of importance on the provision of reasonable conditions for the education and upbringing of those children that are unfortunate enough to find themselves deprived of parental care, and those with special needs, both in terms of physical disability and behavioural problems. Norilsk Nickel sponsors a special school and care centre in Norilsk and a home and boarding school for parentless children. The company also provides regular assistance to the “Antipinikh” parents and children’s centre.
