Born on May 29, 1954.

Educational background:

In 1977 graduated from V.I. Lenin Leningrad Institute of Electric Engineering, majored in Applied Mathematics. Mr. Strzhalkovsky has a PhD in Economics.

Professional experience:

From 1999 to 2000 - Deputy Minister for Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism of the Russian Federation.

From 2000 to 2004 - Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation.

From 2003 to 2004 - Chairman of the Executive Committee of the World Tourist Organization.

From 2004 to 2008 - Head of Federal Turism Agency.

From August 2008 until the present - General Director – Chairman of the Management Board of OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel.

From December 26, 2008 until the present - member of the Board of Directors of OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel.

Currently:

  • member of the Russian President's Council for the Development of Physical Education and Sports and Preparation of 2014 XXII Winter Olympic and XI Paralympic Games in Sochi;
  • member of the Supervisory Board of the Olimpstroy State Corporation engaged in the construction of Olympic venues and Sochi development as a highland resort. 

State decorations:

Mr. Strzhalkovsky is a Full State Councellor 1st Class of the Russian Federation. He was awarded the Order of Honor, the Order of Friendship, a number of medals, and several honorary mentions by the President and the Government of the Russian Federation.

Awarded with the Certificate of Honour of the Government of the Russian Federation for the long-term and effective State civil service (August 4, 2008, Order 1119-p).
